It’s no secret that Western Reserve Academy’s Cancer Immunology program attracts curious scientists from near and far to our school every year. Working in partnership with Cleveland Clinic-donated cancer cells, WRA’s space could be described as a satellite lab.

For Bowen Jiang ’23, this means the opportunity to present his and Dr. Aguilar’s groundbreaking research for the chance to secure scholarships sponsored by the United States Departments of the Army, Navy and Air Force, and advance to the national JSHS competition held later in the spring of 2023. Oh, and, of course, save lives with their research in the process.

“Usually, one is happy just being chosen to present a poster, but to be selected for an oral presentation is truly an honor,” Aguilar said.

The 2023 Ohio Junior Science and Humanities Symposium will be hosted by Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, on Friday, March 3, 2023. We wish Bowen the best of luck in his presentation of their essential research. Check out their incredible findings here!
