Doug Wenger, who begins his coaching tenure for Girls Tennis at WRA this year, has been elected to the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Midwest Division Hall of Fame Class of 2024. The induction ceremony was held in Cincinnati, Ohio earlier this month in conjunction with the Cincinnati Open professional tennis tournament. With this induction, Wenger was recognized for his achievements as a USPTA professional for over 25 years.

After retiring from a 40+ year career in corporate information technology, Wenger became a teaching professional at Western Reserve Racquet & Fitness Club in Streetsboro. He has coached Junior Team Tennis for many years, including the national 18 and Under runner-up team. He has also served as President of the US Tennis Association (USTA) Midwest Section, USTA National NTRP Advisory Group Member, USTA/Midwest Hall of Fame Committee Vice Chair, and Midwest Tennis and Education Foundation President along with numerous other leadership roles on USTA/Midwest and National Committees.

“I’m excited to bring my passion for the sport to WRA’s beautiful campus and its dedicated athletes, Wenger said. “We started the season with a hard-fought win and look forward to more victories. Tennis is a sport for life, aligning it with the school’s athletic vision for its students to energize lives of connectivity, integrity, resilience and wellness.”

Wenger is a former Captain and MVP at Ferris State University and a 5-time Midwest Singles Champion, including achieving a #1 ranking in his age division. He is currently serving as a Presidential Appointee to the national Governance Committee for the United States Tennis Association.
