Student Life Office March 16, 2021
To our Senior Class Piofars,
We have missed you!
We look forward to celebrating your graduation with you, and we hope that you can travel to be here in person for the graduation ceremony and other celebratory events. If you are not able to, please know that we will be cheering you on here in Hudson on May 30!
For those planning to attend Commencement in person in Hudson: you will need to arrive by the previous weekend and by Sunday, May 23, at the latest. This will allow you to finish your classes and take any exams online (without missing them due to travel.) Additionally, this will also allow you to partake in all of the senior celebrations and award ceremonies. You'll also be able to better recover from jetlag.
Please confirm your plans for Commencement by emailing deans@wra.net.
International students, it is very important that you contact Mr. Shriver as you begin to plan your travel to ensure that you have the appropriate immigration support for your arrival.
Regarding the belongings you left behind last March, you will be required to use Dorm Room Movers to have those boxes sent to the college/university you will attend in the fall. Otherwise, you can have your belongings shipped home; we will charge your student account. If you no longer need the belongings in your boxes, we will donate them to students in need. Of course, you are also welcome to take your belongings with you.
Please know that we are not able to store your belongings this summer. We will send you the Dorm Room Movers link soon. Whether you will be on campus for graduation or not, we ask that you use this company to store the belongings you left at school. They are a reliable and secure company.
Will WRA arrange transportation from the Cleveland airport? Yes! How about from Detroit? Yes (as long as you understand that there is a fee). Please email deans@wra.net to request transportation.
Will I need to quarantine once I'm on campus? No. You will need to bring proof of a negative COVID test valid three days prior to your arrival.
What should I bring? Toiletries, casual clothes, your graduation outfit, your prom outfit, Reserve Green if you have it. As many masks as you need for your stay. We will be maintaining COVID protocols at graduation and at all related school events as usual. Bring your school ID card! This will get you access to your dorm and other school buildings as appropriate. See below regarding linens. Otherwise, you should pack everything you need for the week you will be back at school/on campus.
Where can I stay? Seniors who have been Piofars all year will stay in Hobart House. Basic linens (sheets, blanket, towels, a pillow) will be provided. Once we learn of your plans, we will reserve a room for you there. Can I choose my roommate? Sure! All dorms close mid-day on May 30. You will need to be out of Hobart Hall immediately following graduation.
Your parents should look into making arrangements at a local hotel. See link below. We do not have accommodations for parents on campus.
How about food? Not much has changed in that regard. You'll eat in Ellsworth Dining Hall. Meals will be provided as usual.
I left my boxes at school. Can I get access to them? Yes and no. It is likely your boxes have been moved into our maintenance buildings and so you should not assume that you will have easy access to them. If there is something in your boxes that you absolutely need, then we may be able to arrange something. Truly it will be more efficient if you assume you will not have access to your boxes.
Please see this link for detailed information about the last week of school.
Sincerely, Wendy Skinner Dean of Student Life
