Dear WRA Community,
We are less than a week away from the start of Registration, and we are so excited to welcome back our Pioneers with stringent health and safety protocols in place and a healthy dose of joy.
Earlier today, the Summit County Public Health Department (SCPH) released new recommendations for schools in our County. We have worked closely with SCPH for months and are deeply grateful for the high degree of personalized guidance, oversight and review they have provided relative to our plans.
Most simply and importantly, the SCPH is supportive of our in-person, reopening plan that offers a distance learning option. They recognize the uniqueness of the day and boarding composition of WRA and have provided additional guidance for campus life and learning. We are also blessed by expansive grounds that allow physical distancing, and by a faculty and staff who have worked tirelessly, creatively and collaboratively to architect plans for this exceptional year.
Please click here to read today's comprehensive update on WRA protocols and plans. Some of the most important points in the update include:
- We will not have athletics scrimmages or competitions at WRA this fall. We will, however, run practices and fitness programs for every sport. Pre-season will commence on Sunday as planned.
- We have created a new category of leave for anyone experiencing illness and will require that students with symptoms are treated as though they have COVID-19 until there is physician's confirmation that they do not.
- There are new guidelines for day and boarding students relative to off-campus activities. If students do not comply with these rules, they will be asked to leave in-person learning and follow WRA's distance learning curriculum. Guidelines include:
- No student attendance at off-campus parties or large gatherings on weekends or otherwise
- Only essential shopping in Hudson and beyond
- Take-out or outdoor dining only in Hudson and beyond
- Students from other schools will not be permitted on campus
To further enhance safety, we are creating the opportunity for employees who are able to do so to continue working remotely. Employees must speak to their supervisors about schedules. For members of the community who are here in person, daily screenings, physical distancing, mandatory face covering, increased sanitation and air-flow measures and food service innovations are cornerstones of our fundamental plan (revisit this plan at WRA.net).
Thank you for your partnership in our zeal to reopen Reserve. We are at the starting gate now, ready to help our students safely and joyfully soar.
Sincerely,
