Dear Plan B/C Freshman and Family,
We hope you are enjoying your summer and are looking forward to beginning your high school experience at Western Reserve Academy! Here in the Academic Office we have been eagerly anticipating your arrival on campus. Now that the academic master schedule is complete, we are writing to send information regarding courses and school supplies.
Beginning Thursday, students will be able to access their current course list. Please use this link for instructions to access MyBackPack on your phone or computer. Specific class schedules, teachers, sections and locations will continue to change until the first day of classes, but courses will remain the same.
All freshmen take the same Biology, history and English courses, and are placed in their choice of fine arts course. Final placement in mathematics courses will be determined after you take the placement test during orientation week. Students have also selected Spanish, Mandarin, French or Latin and will begin with level I unless they have requested a placement test for possible entry into level II or higher.
Students will take four classes during each of the four modules (see the two page calendar). Full credit courses will meet during two modules; half credit courses will meet for one module.
Some of your classes will require online textbooks, or subscriptions to online resources such as WebAssign or other educational software. Your teachers will have all information on their Canvas page closer to the start of school.
Should you have any questions regarding textbooks or course selections, please contact me at chlystas@wra.net or our Registrar, Lois Howell at howelll@wra.net. We hope you continue to enjoy your summer and we look forward to seeing you soon!
