Dear NEW 10-PG PLAN B/C Student and Parent,
We hope you are enjoying your summer and are eager to begin the upcoming school year. We in the Academic Office have been working to prepare the master course schedule, which is nearly complete.
If they have not already done so, someone from the Academic Office will be contacting you soon to complete the course selection process. Beginning today for seniors, and Wednesday for all other students, scheduled course lists will be available on MyBackPack. Please use this link for instructions to access MyBackPack on your phone or computer. Specific class schedules, teachers, sections and locations will continue to change until the first day of classes, but courses will remain the same.
Students will take four classes during each of the four modules (see the two page calendar). Full credit courses will meet during two modules; half credit courses will meet for one module.
Some of your classes will require online textbooks, or subscriptions to online resources such as WebAssign or other educational software. Your teachers will have all information on their Canvas page closer to the start of school.
If you will be attending classes in person later this year, you will need to order textbooks for some of your classes. You may wait to order them once you arrive on campus.
For those of you who prefer one stop shopping, or who will arrive on campus soon, you may choose to order any needed materials before arriving on campus. Using the Textbook Ordering Website. you will be able to access the MBS link to determine which text you need. MBS allows for a convenient way to access information regarding the textbooks you will need for the upcoming school year. You will also have the benefit of free shipping on orders over $99 if you order before August 7. Please note that MBS is not the only option for purchasing books.
Once you have accessed your course, you have the option of continuing to order books, or you may choose to record the ISBN numbers of each book and purchase them from a source of your own choosing. Many websites have used books in good condition at a reduced price. We do not recommend such sites for classes requiring online access (such as Spanish and Mandarin), as the activation codes are one-time use codes and may not be available when purchasing used textbooks. Such courses are designated on the MBS site. These texts are generally used for more than one school year.
Once on campus, you will also be issued a lab coat and goggles for your science classes. You will be charged for these items through the Campus Store, and will use them for all of your laboratory science courses at WRA.
Books for English classes (with the exception of senior summer reading) may be purchased in the Campus Store. Purchasing your book on campus guarantees that you have the same edition as the rest of the class. Because annotating is a significant part of these classes, purchasing used books or books from other sources is not recommended for English courses.
Finally, we are offering a handful of new electives which are not listed on the MBS page. In that case, any materials needed for class will be made available on campus.
Should you have any questions regarding textbooks or course selections, please contact me at chlystas@wra.net or our Registrar, Lois Howell at howelll@wra.net. We hope you continue to enjoy your summer and we look forward to seeing you soon!
