Teams visit Twinsburg HS in successful opening meet.
WRA's Swimming and Diving teams opened their season on Wednesday night in Twinsburg.
The meet began with Girls Diving as Pioneers took second, third and fourth places. As the swimming events commenced, a series of unfortunate false starts resulted in a disqualification and a 10 point swing in Twinsburg's favor.
Despite the setback, the team rebounded well with a first and second place finish in the 200 IM, courtesy of Kasey Collis '23 and Gina Rubiano '25. Celine Omega '24 claimed first in both the 50m freestyle and 100m butterfly.
Numerous other swimmers performed well, but Twinsburg ultimately took the edge by a mere three points. Nonetheless, it was a very successful first meet for Girls Swimming and Diving.
On the Boys' side, many swimmers were making their competitive swimming debut. Ethan Audia '22 earned the team's only first place finishes in the 50m freestyle and 100m butterfly.
Many best times were recorded and successful swims were had. Some notable performances included Jeff Krapf '23 and Will O'Brien '23 in the 100m butterfly, Daniel Mao '24 in the 500m freestyle, and Ocean Fan '24 and Charlie Cummins '24 in the 100m breaststroke.
