Girls Basketball jumps to 2-0 start

Pioneers win back-to-back games to open the 2021 season.

Opening weekend for Girls Basketball couldn't have gone much better.

On Friday night, the team built a commanding lead in their season's first game against Maple Heights in the WRA Memorial Gym. Arianna Myers '23 led the way for the Pioneers in scoring, posting twenty-two points to accompany her five steals and two blocks. Maya Nahar '25 also scored in double digits with twelve, and Kylah Wellington '24 added eight.

While the home team's scoring was abundant, it was WRA's stellar defensive effort that made the difference. Maple Heights was held to only fourteen points throughout the game, and the Girls Basketball team celebrated by ringing the Victory Bell.

The next day, Saturday, Lake Center Christian School made the trip to Hudson. Once again, the Reserve squad came together and set each other up for success as they cruised to a 2-0 start to the 2021 season.

Myers was again the high scorer, and Angelina Agresta '23 was impressive on both sides of the court with seven steals and thirteen points. Families came to support in high numbers, as fans were a welcome presence back in the gym after a season of COVID attendance restrictions.

WRA Girls Basketball goes into Thanksgiving Break with a solid foundation to build the rest of the season upon.

Next game: Dec. 2 at 5:30 PM, home vs. Cleveland Central Catholic.
