Fast start leads Upper Arlington past WRA boys lacrosse

Brett Erskine led the Pioneers (3-4) with three goals and seven ground balls and Zach Mandry had two goals and three ground balls.

The Western Reserve Academy boys lacrosse team has lost three in a row.

Of course, its last two losses have come to the reigning Division I state champion and Division I state runner-up.

On April 8 at home, the Pioneers suffered a 9-6 defeat to 2016 state champion Upper Arlington.

The Golden Bears, who have won many state titles over the years, led 6-1 after the first period.

Brett Erskine led the Pioneers (3-4) with three goals and seven ground balls and Zach Mandry had two goals and three ground balls.

Andrew Boniface added a goal, an assist and six ground balls and Joseph Jordan had an assist. Ben Slotnik also scooped up four ground balls for Reserve.

Paul Schumacher won 11-of-17 face-offs for WRA and had four ground balls. Pioneers' goalie Ben Kishore made eight saves in the cage.
