Hockey team goes 2-1 in three-game weekend

Pioneers shut out Aurora 6-0, defeat Stow 4-2, and fall to Kenston 2-1.

Pioneer Hockey went into the snowy weekend with three opponents on the schedule: Stow, Kenston and Aurora.

On Friday night, goalie Brendan Gallagher '23 notched an incredible 29 saves as Reserve built their way to a 4-2 win. Four unique goalscorers propelled the Pios to their two score advantage.

The next day, Saturday's showdown with Kenston came down to the wire. The score was tied 1-1 until the very last seconds of the game, when the Bombers were able to sneak the puck into the net and seal WRA's narrow loss.

It didn't take long for the Pioneers to rebound. On Sunday, the team shut out the Aurora Greenmen and tallied six goals of their own, enjoying the comfortable 6-0 win to close out the busy weekend.

Ryan Favaro '22 led WRA scorers with three goals across the three games. Three of the last four games have now resulted in a win for the Pioneers.

The team will enjoy a few days of rest before playing Team Ohio on Wednesday, Jan. 26.
