Boys Golf caps off stellar season

Team ends the year with a record of 10-1.

Boys Golf put together quite an impressive resume this season.

In their final match against Kiski last week, one mere stroke lifted WRA above their competitors. The Pioneer team pulled out a thrilling 341-342 victory to end their year on a high note.

This win landed WRA's record at 10-1, a remarkable feat in itself. The team's only loss came against Shaker with a score of 165-169, meaning WRA was four strokes away from a perfect season.

Tommy Siegenthaler '22 paved the way with the team's lowest scoring average and his display of senior leadership. He played at a consistently high level, sharpening his teammates to do the same. His efforts were complimented well by Carter Frato-Sweeney '22, another seasoned golfer who regularly posted impressive scores.

Brenden Gallagher, Andrew Petras, Sam Pinkerton and Gavin Liegl, all juniors, also performed exceptionally well on the courses and will carry their experience into next year.

One highlight for the team came in mid-September when they tied the all-time best match score in Reserve history (150). Their whopping 65-stroke defeat of Lawrence School marked the peak of Pioneer Golf performance throughout the program's past.

The players enjoyed success in their matches, but they also learned to carry each other. When one golfer wasn't having his best day, another would step up and play well. Each team member played a role in encouraging teammates and adding value to the experience.

Well done, Pioneers!
