After an upsetting defeat earlier in the season, the Pioneers made a statement to even the season series.
The WRA Varsity Baseball team hosted Cornerstone Christian Academy. In an earlier game, the Pioneers gave up 10 runs and came up short, but last night they responded with fire. Behind another stelar pitching performance from sophomore Ian Kolencik and a 3-for-3 day at the plate from sophomore Captain Grayson Mulligan, the Pioneers plated 6 runs on 7 hits. A silver lining in the rainout-ridden schedule has been the ability to keep Kolencik on the mound. Other shining moments came from junior Will Bartlett, who played a fantastic defensive game at first base, and junior Captain AJ Spano, who closed the game on the mound, striking out two of three batters faced. The team looks forward to traveling to cross-town rival Streetsboro on Thursday with Mulligan on the mound.
