After getting down 10-0, the Pioneers fought back but couldn't finish the job.
The WRA Baseball team traveled to neighboring Streetsboro to play the first of two matchups this season. The Rockets did not take the Pioneers lightly, throwing one of their best pitchers to start the game. The WRA batters struggled for the first five innings, eventually getting down 10-0. However, when the Streetsboro bullpen took over, the Pioneer bats came alive, mounting a comeback and bringing the score to 11-9. Behind pitching from captains Grayson Mulligan '25 and AJ Spano '24, the defense got together and made the plays to stay in the game. In the last two innings, Streetsboro pulled away again, and the Pioneers lost 16-9. Standout efforts came from Mulligan and Spano on the bump, Brenna Pethel '25, who recorded her first varsity hit, and Haram Yoo '25, who had his first plate appearance for WRA and reached on error, bringing his career OBP to a perfect 1.000. The Pioneers enjoy a restful weekend and are back at it with five games next week, starting at Pioneer Park on Monday vs Garrett Morgan HS.
