Named Gift Opportunities

Endowment Opportunities

A minimum gift of $100,000 is required to create a named endowment fund at WRA. Endowment funds may be named according to the donor’s wishes and designated for a specific purpose. Endowed funds are invested as part of the WRA endowment which is managed and administered by the Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees. Annual distributions from endowed funds are determined by the spend-rule established by the Board of Trustees. The following opportunities represent the areas of greatest need for endowed support at WRA.

All donors establishing endowed funds will receive an extensive annual report on the investment performance of the fund, the distribution and use of funds along with letters of thanks from faculty or student recipients. In many cases, the Advancement Office coordinates meetings between donors and recipients to further develop their relationship with each other and WRA.

OPPORTUNITIES TO SUPPORT STUDENTS

Endowed Scholarship: $100,000 minimum

Create and name an endowment to support talented and needy students at WRA. Donors may establish preferences for the type of student to be supported by the gift, for instance a preference may be established for a boarding student, a soccer player, or a student from a particular region or a student with a demonstrated interest in a particular academic subject.

Endowed Fund for Equitable Student Support: $100,000 minimum

Create an endowment to help high need students enjoy all aspects of the WRA experience from travel programs to student activities and internships. A significant number of students at WRA receive full or near full financial aid. It may be challenging for these students to participate in certain activities, purchase athletic wear, or even travel home during break periods because of the financial burden. Participating in a summer internship or travel program, a spring athletic trip, or a visit to Boston Mills for an afternoon of skiing on a Sunday afternoon can all be made possible through a student support fund.

Endowed Fund for Student Initiatives: $100,000 minimum

Create an endowment to provide resources to assist students who want to pursue a passion outside the classroom but need resources to develop their idea, travel to conduct research, or attend a conference or workshop.

OPPORTUNITIES TO SUPPORT FACULTY

Endowed Faculty Chair: $1,000,000 minimum

WRA currently has 14 endowed chairs to award to talented and deserving faculty members. Receiving a named, endowed chair is the highest award that can be bestowed on a WRA faculty member. Enhancing the number of available endowed chairs will ensure that WRA can attract and retain talented teachers committed to the transformative power of the Reserve experience. Donors can designate a faculty chair for a specific academic department.

Endowed Faculty Development Fund: $200,000 minimum

WRA faculty members are passionate, life-long educators and learners. Each year during break periods, faculty members pursue advanced degrees, attend conferences and travel to enhance their teaching abilities. An endowed faculty development fund can support the professional growth and development of WRA’s most important resource, its faculty.

Endowed College Counseling Fund: $200,000 minimum

The College Counseling Office performs a critical function for WRA students. An endowed fund supporting the College Counseling Office ensures that students have access to test prep, technology and resources that maximize their college opportunities.

Endowed Athletic Fund: $200,000 minimum

Endowed Athletic Funds support an athletic team of the donor’s choosing and can be named according to the donor’s wishes. Each year, the coach of the recipient team will communicate with the donor and share news on the team, special initiatives within the program, and notable achievements of the team and players.

Endowed Student Life Fund: $200,000

An endowed fund to support Student Life will provide resources for weekend activities ranging from Dorm Feeds to movie runs or ski trips, name just a few. Ensuring a vibrant array of activities and experiences both on campus and off during weekends and break periods is critical for the well-being and happiness of students.
