• Hails from Beachwood, Ohio • Junior at Reserve • Boarder (2/3 of our Pioneers live here!)
Vivien lives on the third floor of Ellsworth Hall where she’s a prefect to freshman girls. Prefects are like resident assistants (or RAs) at college. She has her own room and loves helping underclassmen with whatever they need - from reviewing homework to lending an ear to conversing over coffee.
Her favorite class is Cancer Immunology with Dr. Aguilar. “The class truly gave me the ability to expand my knowledge and appreciation of science in a field that I knew little about. Throughout the course of the year, I learned about basic lab techniques, analyzing DNA and even growing cancer cells. Toward the end of the year, I began to develop my own research project under the tutelage of Dr. Aguilar. I am incredibly passionate about my project and hope to continue to add to it in the future.”
After completing a year of biology, sophomores and juniors are invited to apply to Cancer Immunology.
As a rising junior, Vivien traveled to Guatemala with Jump The World -- a language immersion program offered through the Modern & Classical Languages Department at WRA. She volunteered in Antigua, Guatemala at a children's school. Afterward, she spent a month with a host family going to classes with her host sister and traveling all over the country.
Vivien plays soccer and softball but rounds out her after school commitments with an athletic alternative -- a synthetic biology elective. And to no ones surprise, she loves it!
A lot happens after classes let out - for boarders and day students alike.
When she’s not working in the lab, hanging out in the dorm or playing sports, Vivien can often be found studying outside by the hockey pond.
