Western Reserve Academy names new Varsity Baseball Head Coach

Director of Athletics and Afternoon Programs Herb Haller '85 named Associate Director of Admission Jordan Shriver the new Varsity Boys Baseball Coach.

Haller said bringing Coach Shriver on board was the natural next step for the team's leadership.

"Jordan has been an Assistant Coach with the Varsity Baseball team since he arrived at WRA," shared Haller. "When the head coaching position opened up at the beginning of the school year, it made sense for Jordan to take leadership of the program. He wanted to do it, and I know he will be good at it. Jordan knows the game, works hard and has a very good rapport with our players. I am excited for Jordan to take this new role, and I'm excited for the players in the program."

This will be Shriver's third season working with the baseball team. In years past, he focused on working with the development of the team's pitching staff. Prior to taking this position, Shriver coached multiple youth and club levels, most recently with Ohio Elite Baseball.

Shriver was a member of the varsity football and baseball teams at his alma mater, Wittenberg University, where he primarily served as a relief pitcher — specifically a closer.

Shriver says, it's an exciting time to be a part of the Western Reserve Academy Baseball Program.

"Coach Hoffman and Coach McNerney built a wonderful tradition of development, camaraderie, and success," Shriver shared. "Moving into the 2021 season, we are excited to build upon the established rich tradition of Pioneer Baseball. We will continue to focus on individual player development, playing smart baseball, building great habits in practice, and ultimately we hope to continue to see success on the diamond. We have a strong core of returning and experienced players. Overall, it's a wonderful group of young players who are eager to make their mark."

WRA's baseball season kicks off in the spring of 2021. Go Pioneers!
