The fall Academic Awards ceremony brought the Western Reserve Academy community together to honor and recognize the academic excellence of our students. Students were commended for receiving Highest Honors, National Merit recognition and induction into the prestigious Cum Laude Society.
During the event, the school recognized nine National Merit semifinalists and commended students, inducted eight new members into the Cum Laude Society, and announced the names of 55 students who received Highest Honors for the 2016-17 school year.
History Chair Diccon Ong and Fine & Performing Arts Chair Alan Doe shared words of encouragement and inspiration. Ong said, "Take your hard-earned skills and knowledge and apply them for the benefit of the world." Doe said, "Peace is in the hands of ordinary people."
During the ceremony's intermission, Helena Souffrant '21 played the Israeli folk tune "Hine Ma Tov" on a hammered dulcimer.
Congratulations to all of our students who were honored at the ceremony. We look forward to another year of academic excellence.
