Spring Academic Awards fete Reserve's finest

On Wednesday, May 26, the WRA community joined to celebrate the heart and soul of the school, the academic program and our stellar students. Associate Head of School Dr. Nicholas Kent opened the Spring Academic Awards saying the event was a celebration for everyone who fosters an environment where excellence happens.

"Excellence is not 100 percent on a test or the highest GPA," said Dr. Kent. "Excellence is academic generosity, the ability to share and listen to ideas. Today's awards celebrate the epitome of being a learner."

This was the first year that many of the Senior Academic Awards were bestowed outside of the Commencement ceremony, fostering just another opportunity to laud our accomplished graduating class. Members of the junior class also received awards. Commendations for citizenship, social justice, the arts, academic disciplines, community service, leadership, music and attitude filled the Memorial Gym with pride and a palpable sense of all that had been accomplished in what Head of School Suzanne Walker Buck called "an unusual but outstanding year."

Awardees included Pioneers and Piofars, distance learners during this COVID year who joined the celebration by livestream. The Class of 2021 has been part of history, and for that the entire collective deserves admiration. We can't wait until this weekend!
