Senior class selects Niraj Naik and Max Borrmann as end of year speakers

The senior class selected Niraj Naik '16
and Max Borrmann '16 as this year's speakers.

Seniors Niraj Naik and Max Borrmann, the 2015–16 student body president and vice president, and dynamic Morning Meeting leaders, have been selected as this year’s speakers for Commencement and Senior Celebration.

Naik, who will speak at Commencement on Sunday, May 29, said that the idea of addressing not only his senior classmates, but school staff and faculty, family members and a broad array of members of the WRA community is an honor that he does not take lightly.

“I was pretty happy when I found out I was going to be speaking,” he said. “I just hope that I can deliver a speech that really resonates with the community and sends us off in a really positive way. I’m going to try to make it a positive speech.”

Borrmann, this year’s Senior Celebration speaker, remarked on the tone of this address to his fellow classmates.

“Traditionally, this one is usually a little more lighthearted and funny,” he said. “It’s a time to look back on the four years and all the memories we’ve shared together. I was honored that my classmates thought I was the right person for the job. It was a little daunting at first, but I’m hoping I can deliver something that everyone is happy with and that connects with everyone.”

Both selected speakers are currently drafting their speeches. When asked to comment, both stated they have every confidence that the other will do an exceptional job.

“I think he’ll be really good!” said Niraj. “[Max]’s not giving himself enough credit.”

“Oh, he’s going to be fantastic,” said Max. “I know he will. I’m not worried about him at all.”

Congratulations to both Niraj and Max! We look forward to hearing their speeches.
