It hardly seems there was time to blink between the start of preseason and the conclusion of the fall sports season, yet in this short span of time, the student-athletes of Reserve saw a long list of accomplishments.
Herb Haller '85, Director of Athletics & Afternoon Programs, welcomed a packed Chapel of students and parents to celebrate both singular and team accomplishments in the context of Reserve's long-standing athletics tradition. Haller praised the "enthusiasm, determination and school pride" cultivating development in mind, body and spirit for Reserve's students. Haller also credited the school's cheering fans for always supporting their peers in fall pursuits in Boys and Girls Cross Country, Field Hockey, Football, Golf, Boys and Girls Soccer, Girls Tennis and Volleyball.
Haller also described the hierarchy of athletic recognition at Reserve, starting with the coveted "R" for varsity letter winners. This fall, there were 127 varsity letter winners. Several students received recognition for their 2nd or even 3rd varsity letters, marked by sports specific pins and star pins respectively. Captains receive the classic green captains sweater. Haller told the athletes of every grade level and capability, "My goal for each of you is to impact a sport at the varsity level."
Reserve's cadre of coaches praised the hard work, improvement, tenacity and never-quit attitude of our athletes. They also specially acknowledged students who have earned special recognition in their sport regionally and nationally. We salute all coaches, players, trainers, assistants and fans whose enthusiasm and impact is uniquely Reserve and always inspiring.
