The team battled throughout 80 minutes of play, but
ultimately fell.

On Saturday, September 17th, the WRA Girls Soccer team headed to the campus of Notre Dame
Cathedral Latin to take on the Lions’ squad. The team battled throughout 80 minutes of play, but
ultimately fell to NDCL 4-0, and dropped to 3-5 on the season.
The Lions started off the match with a strong effort and had put the ball in the back of the net
withing the first minute of the game. The Pioneers responded with a more unified defensive
effort and had a few looks at goal in the first half. The first half ended with the Lions up 3-0,
scoring off of a corner kick and a free kick from 30 yards out.
In the second half, the Pioneers had more offensive success, putting 4 shots on net. A Pioneer
defensive reorganization pulled an extra midfielder back. This allowed the team to better build
out of the defensive third of the field and forced the Lions to make quick decisions. With 15
minutes left in the game, the Lions scored again, off of another corner kick. The game ended with
a score of 4-0 for the Lions.
The Pioneer Girls Soccer team will take on Hathaway Brown Blazers at home in the WRA
Stadium this Wednesday, September 21st . Reserve looks to secure their fourth win of the season
with a home field advantage.
