Pioneers defeat St. Xavier (OH) and Cathedral High School (IN) on a weekend road trip.

WRA Boys Lacrosse is in the ring with the region's best competition, and so far, they've come out swinging.

The Pioneers hit the road this weekend to face off against Cathedral High School (IN), a large private school near Indianapolis. After a barrage of scoring and superb defense, WRA claimed its fourth win of the season on Saturday with a score of 14-3.

On Sunday, the team hit the field with St. Xavier (OH) in a noon game brimming with talent. The Bombers, a perennial lacrosse powerhouse, kept things interesting in what turned out to be a very competitive matchup.

The Pioneers once again tallied 14 goals, possessing the ball efficiently and capitalizing on their scoring opportunities. Seniors Ryan Favaro, Macky Peck and Zach Snider led the attack, while midfielders Blake Eiland '22, Jordan Ito '23 and Jack Booth '22 controlled the midfield.

As the clock wound down, WRA held a 14-7 lead with three minutes left. Two late strikes by the Bombers brought the final score to 14-9, but WRA would hold on to win, climbing to a 5-0 record on the season.

In his second year, Head Coach Dylan Sheridan '02 has led the team to a thunderous start of the 2022 season. Just two weeks ago, WRA toppled both the #1 and #2 teams in Kentucky when they defeated St. Xavier (KY) and Trinity (KY). The Pioneers, who have scored exactly 14 goals in each of their last three games, now hold a top 25 spot in the nation.

Next game: Wednesday, March 23 at Georgetown Preparatory School (MD).
