Western Reserve Academy is excited to announce the launch of the school's new website this week, changing the look and feel of www.wra.net for the first time since 2005.
Director of Digital Media Sasha Maseelall '96 and Website Content Manager Tracy Schooner have worked with the entire campus community to develop the structure, content and technical infrastructure to support the new site. Keeping the same domain name, the new wra.net will provide navigational paths that reflect user behavior and include more dynamic multimedia content.
"Increasingly, our website is an outsider's first point of contact with the school," Maseelall said. "I want new users to see who we are so they can understand why we are unique. The new design is meant to be an authentic representation of our school community. But in web-based communications, functionality is as important as form. New architectural features, such as drop-down menus and sidebars, should facilitate a more user-friendly experience and, ultimately, increase our website traffic.
"Combined with recent efforts on the social media front, the goal is to strengthen WRA's overall web presence."
In addition to making information easier to locate, the new site will feature an interactive map, expanded video capability and links to WRA's sites on Facebook and Twitter.
The site will also feature content-specific sections, known as portals, that will offer dedicated news to students, faculty, parents and alumni. These portals will replace the current wrainfo.net site as the "go-to" place for current news about the school, and will be rolled out in phases after the launch. Users of www.wrainfo.net will continue to access information on that site until the respective portals are launched.
