The Western Reserve Academy girls soccer team is 3-0.
The Lady Pioneers earned a 5-3 victory over Linsly Aug. 25 in Wheeling, W. Va.
Nicky Waldeck had all five goals to lead Reserve.
Linsly struck first in the 17th minute, but Waldeck was able to find openings in the Lady Cadet defense, scoring from close range several times, twice on central feeds from Pauline Van Dijck.
Linsly outshot WRA 19-17 and it took 10 saves from Maggie Olson (six) and Maria Paparella (four) to hold back the Lady Cadets (2-2).
"Linsly is well-coached and they have a strong young team," Lady Pioneers head coach Joe DiBiase said.
"We had lots of chances as did they. Aside from Nick, we'd like to finish better. I'm sure Linsly left thinking the same thing."
WRA also earned a 4-0 win over Manchester Aug. 23 on the road.
Junior Rylee Nelson had two goals and Waldeck and Sam Haseltine each found the nets once for WRA.
Haseltine's goal seemed to be the backbreaker as she volleyed home a Lindsey Wirtz corner kick in the 39th minute to extend the lead to 4-0.
The Lady Pioneers outshot Manchester 19-5 with freshman Maria Paparella needing just three saves to earn her first shutout.
WRA is scheduled to entertain Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary Aug. 29 at 4:30 p.m. and Akron Firestone Sept. 1 at 3 p.m.
