I am honored to welcome you all, new and returning moms, to Western Reserve Academy as Pioneer Women 2016–17.
As preseason started for our students, PWA and Dads Club kicked off the year with our annual Parent BBQ to connect and reconnect with parents from all over the world. True to Ohio weather we had to make a last minute change to our venue from the Hockey Pond to the MAC — thankfully the WRA Communications & Marketing Office was able to notify everyone and we had a record-setting crowd enjoying a night of food, drink and fellowship. Thank you to all who helped!
The Pioneer Women's Association has been a part of the Western Reserve Academy community for more than 30 years and with the support of extremely talented moms and WRA staff we are able to continue to fulfill our mission of enhancing the quality of student life and facilitate communication between WRA faculty, staff, administration and parents. We are proud to sponsor Back-to-School Bash, Homecoming, Sadie Hawkins Dance, Bicknell Bonanza, Send Off to Summer, birthday cake deliveries, exam kit stress relief, Exam Week Coffee House, dorm feeds, Prom and so much more! Thank you to all the PWA alumnae, current moms and future moms — we are all a part of this special organization.
My charge to each of you, whether you are a day or boarder mom, is to please consider becoming more involved with PWA. Our committees vary in commitment level so hopefully there is something for everyone. If you have an idea of something that would enhance the student experience I would love to hear from you!
In addition to devoting time and talent to the committees and events I encourage you to be a participant in the 2016–17 WRA Fund. Participation is key and no matter the size of your contribution the generosity of your gifts will enhance our WRA community and our student experience.
The Pioneer Women's Association is a special place to meet new people and make lifelong friends. I am so fortunate to have been a part of this organization throughout my daughter Marin's '16 four years and am now serving as President for my son Spenser's '19 sophomore year. I encourage you all to be an active part of the Pioneer Women's Association; take a look at the parent portal for ways to become involved. I love this organization and look forward to an amazing year serving you, the students and the WRA community.
