Women to Women Panel Discussion Set For May

Women to Women panelists answer questions posed by Reserve juniors and seniors.

Once again this year, the Alumni Association Board, through its Women’s Initiatives Committee, sponsored its “Women to Women” panel discussion. This year’s panel took place on Friday, May 20. The evening began with a dinner at Seymour House so all of the alumnae could have a chance to meet. The panel started at about 8:00 p.m. in the Wilson Hall Reading Room.

This program has been designed to provide a forum for alumnae to share their experiences and insights from their years at Reserve and beyond with the current junior and senior girls. Participants include alumnae of diverse backgrounds, ethnicities and careers, from lawyers and doctors to teachers and stay-at-home moms.

Participating this year were the following Reserve graduates:

Moderator: Katie Ong Landini ’83
Marianne Schweikert Fouts ’83
Yolanda Jennings ’99
Lisa Bess Kramer Kirk ’90
Lillian Kuri ’88
Julie Miran ’78
Karen Sheehan ’81
Danielle Strauss ’97
Shannah Tharp Taylor ’91
Elizabeth Ricanati Warshawsky ’88

Feedback from prior year participants is that students benefit from the friendly and informal interaction with women who have “been there.”

Save the Date and Come Home on October 1, 2005

Homecoming 2005 will be Saturday, October 1. All alumni are invited to come back to Reserve for the day and enjoy a picnic lunch and the on-campus athletic events. In addition, two special events are being planned.

•Jim Gramentine ’51 expects to be on campus to release his latest book about Reserve, entitled Without Reserve. The book contains 52 essays by alumni who attended Reserve for one or more years prior to 1983. The collection makes for lively reading and includes several profiles of faculty masters who made a profound difference in young peoples' lives, coming-of-age stories of life at a boarding school, and favorite memories, ranging from athletics to a few choice putzes.

•At its February meeting, the Alumni Association Board voted to designate its Campaign for Reserve contributions to name the lounge area in the Murdough Athletic Center in honor of all alumni. The area will be dedicated October 1, followed by a reception. The lounge will be a gathering place for alumni, students and visitors to the Reserve campus and will highlight alumni accomplishments and achievements.
