Regional Gatherings Draw Alumni from Many Eras

More than 120 alumni attended the annual Chagrin Valley Hunt Club Holiday Party

While on-campus events are always a big drawing card for alumni, they are by no means the only opportunities for Reservites to reconnect.

Already this year, more than 15 regional events have taken place across the country, and more are planned. Gatherings to date include those in Georgia, North Carolina, California, Colorado, Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C. In addition to traditional cocktail gatherings for all classes, many younger alumni remained to join Reserve faculty and staff for dinner during their visits.

Photos from these gatherings are available on Reserve’s website. The site also provides a calendar of events for upcoming gatherings in various cities.

Homecoming Day Keeps Visitors Busy

Highlights from the Alumni Association’s second annual Homecoming Day are available in this news article including information about a Homecoming Day tribute to Corinne Van Dame Davis.

A perfect day (weather-wise) set the stage for a great Homecoming Day crowd and pre-game party

New Look for the Alumni Association E-Newsletter

The Reserve Alumni Association E-Newsletter layout was revised this fall and now shares design elements with the school’s new website look. We hope you enjoy this first e-newsletter for the 2004-2005 academic school year as we update you on fall and winter Alumni Association news.

Reunion Weekend is Approaching! Make Plans Now to Attend

While the gray skies of winter still prevail in some parts of the country (including, of course, Hudson) spring is starting to spring elsewhere. And that means that Reserve’s Alumni & Development Office is hard at work planning for Reunion 2005. As usual, alumni from all classes and all eras are welcome at the June 10 – 12 events, but it will be an official Reunion year for all classes ending in 5 and 0. More details will be forthcoming, but golfers should know that the third annual Alumni Association Golf Tournament is set for Friday, June 10, and all should know that other activities will keep alumni and their family members young and old delightfully busy all weekend long.

Visit www.wra.net in late March for detailed information on Reunion 2005. Click on Alumni and choose the Reunion Weekend option. And don’t forget to check the online Reunion Guest List.

Alumni Board Has Busy Agenda

The Reserve Alumni Association Board held its fall meeting on Homecoming Day (October 9, 2004) to plan its activities for the balance of the school year. The first major post-homecoming event held was a dinner for the current senior class (future alumni) on Monday, November 8. The informal event included a Mexican feast and a pop-culture trivia quiz.

At its October meeting, the Board voted to contribute the profits from the Reunion Weekend 2004 Golf Tournament back to Reserve to be used for a scholarship. This offer was subsequently accepted by the Board of Trustees at its November 6 meeting. An Alumni Association Board committee is working with the school administration to finalize details. It is the goal of the Board to establish the golf tournament as an annual scholarship fund-raising project.

Eleven alumni joined the Board as new members for the 2004-2005 school year. They are: Carl Apthorp ’50, Jessica Andrews Bartlett ’95, Steve Copperman ’88, Lorraine Debose ’94, George Evans ’84, Charlie Hammel ’65, Joey Huang ’88, Bob McCulloch ’69, Julie Thornton Miran ’78, Marc Ruxin ’88 and Megan McArn Valentine ’85.

Officers for 2004 – 2005 remain as:

Don Husat ’64, President
Chuck Mullins ’65, Vice President
Cheryl Wear ’82 Vice President
Gail Roemer Montenegro ’84, Secretary

Family Affair Tradition Continues

For many families, a Reserve education has become a tradition both within the family and down through several generations. That is why the school counts 131 legacies among its total student population of about 400.
