Reserve offers an exciting and fulfilling academic experience that
goes well beyond simply meeting requirements. Here is what parents
and students tell us they value about a Reserve education.
Challenging curriculum. Students
are encouraged to stretch themselves to take full advantage of all
Reserve offers, building on academic strengths and bolstering weaknesses.
Our hope is that as students accept the challenge of advanced work
in areas of strength, they will also "keep in touch" with all six
major disciplines.
Small classes, dedicated
faculty. Classes are small, teaching techniques are varied,
and teachers are available for help outside the classroom. Quiet
evening study hours are mandatory for boarders, either in their
room, in the library or with a teacher or advisor. As students mature,
they are given more independence, and by senior year a student should
have a real capacity for self-direction and decision-making.
The Advisor Program. While all faculty
members at WRA seek to model the school's core values, each teacher
also serves as the primary contact between the school and parents
for a small group of students. Faculty advisors facilitate the transition
to Reserve and continue to monitor their advisees' overall well-being,
academic progress and growth in the areas of excellence, integrity
and compassion.
